Born and raised in Tampa, Florida, Jovanna attended the University of South Carolina originally on a vocal performance scholarship. Quickly realizing she did not want to be a music major – she decided to pursue an undergraduate degree in psychology.
Jovanna knew she wanted to go into a profession where she could help others and be their advocate. Growing up, she saw several friends devastated by their parents’ divorce. She wanted to find a way to help people in those same situations, in particular, younger children. Psychology helped Jovanna understand, relate, and empathize with people. She decided to take her career a step further and attend law school to become a voice for those children and families. Jovanna went on to receive a certificate in family and children’s law from the University of South Carolina School of Law.
When it comes to families involved in a divorce or high-conflict custody battle, Jovanna understands there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution, and she values the importance of conflict resolution. She knows the most important thing is always to listen and understand her clients’ wants and needs, so she can develop a recommendation that makes the most sense for each client and their family.
Marriage, parenting, and divorce are some of the hardest issues a person can go through. When it comes to legal proceedings relating to these issues, it can be devastating for many families and often leave them feeling lost. Jovanna’s goal is to help clients navigate through the legal process as smoothly as possible so they can begin to work on the next phase of their lives while minimizing effects on the children involved.
Jovanna is licensed in both North and South Carolina.
