Deb Dilman

Deb worked for many years in the financial industry before transitioning into family law. While she enjoyed her career in business, she ultimately wanted to make a more meaningful impact within her community by empowering clients through difficult and life- changing circumstances. Her goal has always been to help improve lives and inspire individuals to make important decisions for themselves and their families.

Deb earned her undergraduate degree in Business from Queens University of Charlotte. Eighteen years later, in 2003, she received her law degree from Syracuse University College of Law. Until 2026, when Council for Children’s Rights closed its doors, Deb represented children through the Custody Advocacy Program.

Determined to learn everything she could about her community and how she could make a difference in people’s lives, Deb embarked on a legal career focused initially on serving underserved communities. She later expanded her work to assist all families facing chaotic and challenging periods in their lives. After graduating in 2003, she began her legal career with Legal Aid of North Carolina in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In February 2005, she moved to the greater Charlotte metropolitan area to focus exclusively on family law, an area she continues to find deeply rewarding.

Deb values the opportunity to assist clients in resolving matters of the utmost importance involving their families. She is equally passionate about educating and empowering clients to make informed decisions that improve both their own lives and the well-being of their families. For many clients, the family law process is the first time they realize they have the power to create meaningful change in their lives, and Deb enjoys helping them understand the lasting importance of those changes.

Through her own life experiences, Deb understands the challenges people face and how a single decision can impact the course of a person’s life. She recognizes that life- changing events such as separation, divorce, and child custody disputes are incredibly difficult. Her knowledge of the law, combined with her life experience, allows her to guide clients through the legal process so they can begin regaining control of their lives.

As part of her ongoing commitment to helping clients find thoughtful and creative resolutions, Deb is also a trained collaborative attorney and a certified mediator through the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission in both family financial matters and superior court matters. Her extensive experience in litigation, negotiation, mediation, and collaboration enables her to approach each case with a broad perspective and develop creative solutions tailored to her clients’ unique needs.
